Renton RFA Peer Support
Peer support team members are not counselors but are covered by confidentiality and privileged communication per RCW 5.60.060.
Captain with Renton, hired in 2002. Been with our Peer Support team since it started in 2013. Currently the team coordinator. I have a wife and two kids, I help coach junior sports, am active in my church, and have a heart to help my brother and sister firefighters when needed to help them remain emotionally healthy in this job. It is important for them, their family, and their ability to enjoy this job despite some of the not so pleasant aspects.

I was hired in 2004 and have been a member of the Water Rescue Team (SCUBA Dive/Swiftwater Rescue) for the past 11 years. I have also been a member of the Rope Rescue Team and HazMat team. In my off time, I enjoy hiking, snowboarding, playing softball and spending time with my beautiful wife and dog (Cholo). I am fluent in Spanish and have been a member of the PEER Support Team since its inception in Renton 3 years ago.

My name is Darron Erickson. I am married to my wife, Elizabeth, for 11 years and have two daughters – Lael (9) and Courtney (26). I started in the Fire Service as a volunteer/resident at Fire District 20 and was hired in 1998 by Fire District 40. I currently work for Renton Regional Fire Authority, as Renton and District 40 merged locals in 2008. I am honored to be part of your/our support team, and I am always available - if/when needed. |
Hey guys, my name is Chris. I have been with the Renton RFA since 2005. The close knit relationships we build, the station we live out of, the calls we see, and the time we spend away from our families all plays into who we are as a person. I am married, have two boys in middle school, and few dogs and cats at home. We love getting outside, taking day trips around the area, and sometimes letting my boys beat me at video games. I have been with peer support since Renton started our program and would be happy to talk to anyone who needs someone to talk with.
Call anytime, Krysto |
Hired in Sept, 1988. 29 years in the fire service, I have experienced most positions in the fire service from firefighter to special ops to supervisor and have loved every step along the way.
I am passionate about family, mission work, and making connections with people. I love to watch football and love to be outdoors camping, hiking and skiing. I am always willing to listen and support you where you're at. |
Just a husband, dad, combat veteran, and dude who has made his fair share of mistakes (and successes); and does not have the time or inclination to take myself too seriously. We grow by embracing the suck, being real with one another, and putting our personas and egos aside.
Everyone on the Peer Support team is in your corner, and we have your back in the most literal way imaginable. Call, text—use a homing pigeon for all I care—just reach out if you need it… Anytime, for Any reason. |
I’m Ken Swinford, I’ve been with Renton RFA for the last two years. I previously volunteered/worked part-time as a FF in Snohomish County for two years. Before joining the fire service, I worked as a Chiropractor for 7 years and served in the USMC-Reserve for 6 years. While in the Marine Corps Reserve I was deployed to Iraq from 2004-2005.
I’ve been married to my wife for 14 years and we have two boys and two dogs. I love being a Dad and having an active role in my kids school / sports activities. In my free time, I enjoy exercising, sports, and playing catch with kids. I’m always available for a brother or sister in need and would be honored to hear from you. |
I have been with Renton Fire 32 years- currently assigned as driver at station 17. I believe in the peer support mission and think it is one of the best changes I have seen in the fire service. I enjoy my family- two adult children and a son-in-law and I like working out and sports activities.
