Peer Support
Peer Support Team members are firefighters, retired firefighters, and civilians in the fire service just like you. Even if your department does not have a Peer Support Team, please contact any one of these members if you are in need. They have experience on the job dealing with difficult situations and traumas and have felt the emotional impacts. Peer Support members have received extra training in listening and providing support to help their peers work through what is being experienced. They know when to make a referral to a trusted mental health professional or other resources as needed. They, themselves are not counselors but are firefighters who are covered by confidentiality and privileged communication per RCW 5.60.060. What you share with them stays with them. Peer support team members can be contacted directly and anonymously at any time. These pages are divided by department, however there may be a Peer Support Team Member with whom you'd like to talk from a different department. There are no restrictions, so browse and contact any of the team members anonymously.
